“For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.”- 2 Corinthians 8:12( KJV)
Our giving must come from a willing heart. Willingness to give is very essential. It is the first condition that makes giving acceptable. The willingness has to come from the heart. A willing heart is a heart that is eager and desires to give. It is a heart that is ready to give, and committed to giving.
In all things, our dealings with God must be from the heart. Our heart is our Spirit. God deals with our heart always. Our hearts regulate our actions, it controls what our entire body does. Only the actions that originate from the heart is acknowledged and acceptable by God.
“Love GOD, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got!”- Deuteronomy 6:5 (MSG)
A heart that is willing to give, is a heart that loves. You are willing to give God all that is in you; your potential, your talents and your strength. You are willing to give God all you’ve got; your money and other valuables- your food, water, car, house etc.
Also remember, when God is looking for who to enrich, promote and provide with opportunities, He looks at the heart. God will entrust His treasure with the person who has a willing heart to give to God and others, or towards the course of God or towards advancing His Kingdom.
“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”- 1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV)
God’s gift to you is dependent on the state of your heart; what your heart is eager to do. God’s overflowing riches to you in life has to do with whether or not God knows His desire will be uppermost in your heart.
God gives bread to the eater, because the heart is hungry and desire to eat. However, God gives seed to whosoever has a heart that desires to sow! God’s dealing with you and me are in accordance with our heart desire. The state of our heart can become the greatest limitation to what God will do with us or to us!
When there is a willing heart to give, you and I must follow-through that desire especially when God has given us what is needed to fulfil it. We must not subject our actions to our feelings or sensual considerations.
“Nathan told David, “Whatever is on your heart, go and do it; God is with you.””- 1 Chronicles 17:2 (MSG)
