“Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end].”- 1 Corinthians 13:8 (Amplified Bible)
Love is the ultimate virtue. It is the acid test of a true Christian. It is a distinguishing virtue for a child of God. God is love, so anyone who does not love is not of God; he/she does not have the nature of God.
Love is not just in talking, it is in action and demonstration. It is a nature in manifestation, it is a lifestyle. If you have love it cannot be hidden, it will be evident in your life. Love is not selective in its expression; it is like a fragrance that goes with you wherever you are, no matter whom you are in contact with- friend or foe; stranger or an acquaintance; it flows irrespective of these.
Love never fails- it touches and affects anyone to whom it is released, it changes any circumstance wherein it is in display, it is always effective.
Love works powerfully- it calms anger, ends bitterness, produces hope in hopelessness. It will always bring encouragement to the discouraged. Love brings life into a dead condition, it brings reconciliation, it offers forgiveness and allows peace to reign where there have been conflicts and rage.
Everybody responds to love. Where everything else has failed to produce results, love will create a resolution and make a way out.
Love is not passive, it is active, and so it requires effort, energy, determination and commitment.
While love may be free to the recipient, it has cost implications to the one who gives it. The cost may be in time spent to go out of your way to do something for someone. It may cost one’s comfort and bring pain. The cost may be in losing one’s pride and taking on humility. It may be in releasing what you have- cash or kind; not because it is in excess, but because it is more needed by someone else.
Love may even cost a temporary humiliation or shame; it may cause undeserved suffering or hardship for the benefit of the ones you love.
The prove of love is the readiness to give whatever it takes, the worth of what is given in relation to the giver indicates the degree of love we have.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”- John 3:16
God loves us so much that He gave Himself up for us. And it has worked in reproducing himself in us- several millions of Christian believers all over the world in every generation.
“In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered.”- Hebrews 2:10
Indeed love never fails, let us live by it.
God Bless you!
