“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;”- Ephesians 6:14 (KJV)
Righteousness offers divine protection, it shields from evil. Righteousness provides supernatural immunity that makes a person unsusceptible to the schemes of the devil. Righteousness renders the devices of the devil ineffective.
“Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good?”- 1 Peter 3:13 (ESV)
Righteousness puts a person on God’s side, so it guarantees companionship with God. Righteousness attracts the presence of God and repels the devil away; it therefore attract good and resist evil, and it secures the glory of God.
So righteousness brings down God’s glory. As the Scripture says, ‘upon all the glory shall be a defence’ (Isaiah 4:5). If you want the Glory of God upon your life, you have to live in righteousness.
Righteousness empowers you to stand firm; it establishes you in the path to your destiny, it prevents your course from being perverted or diverted. Whatever takes you out of righteousness takes you out of God, it takes you out of your security and puts you at the mercy of the enemy. In other words, you don’t have to watch your back if you are righteous, you do not have to live in fear.
“The wicked run away even though no one pursues them, but the righteous are as confident as a lion.”- Proverbs 28:1 (CEB).
Anytime we compromise on righteousness, we create a defect in our armoury and we become vulnerable. The devil’s agenda is to kill, to steal and to destroy, when he cannot achieve his goal in a particular life or community, he makes such lives indulge in unrighteous living.
This aim of the devil when he throws temptations at people, is to ensure they fall into such temptations, then the devil begins to accuse such believer before God.
“Then I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, “Now God’s salvation has come! Now God has shown his power as King! Now his Messiah has shown his authority! For the one who stood before our God and accused believers day and night has been thrown out of heaven.”- Revelation 12:10 (GNT)
It is very clear that while we live in righteousness, the devil cannot place any accusation upon our lives; consequently, he cannot exercise any power over you or me.
To live in righteousness is to live a life of integrity and of moral rectitude, it is to live a life that is pleasing to God. Righteousness is not ‘what’ you are in public, but who you are in private. All you need to live in righteousness is the fear of God; this will make you depart from evil, it will make you abstain from all that appears ungodly.
Every time you are confronted with the choice; righteousness or unrighteousness, take a moment to think about the consequences; receive grace from God and stay clear of every stain, contamination, sin and unrighteous acts.
Keep your conscience free of condemnation and guilt, stay off harm’s way, stay secured, stay righteous.
God bless you
