“Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.”- Isaiah 66:7-8
Every child birth is naturally preceded by a period of labour. What has been conceived and carried in the womb for months can only come forth naturally through the travail of labour.
God has only one thing conceived in His mind; He had only one burden right from the time humanity was lost to Satan through Adam’s sin. This burden is the salvation of mankind, the redemption of humanity, the establishment of God’s Kingdom on earth.
God’s desire is that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. He would have all men to be saved and transformed from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of His own dear Son Jesus Christ. This will happen through revival- God’s Spirit coming on people as a wave that brings conviction and turns people to repentance from sin unto God.
God’s plan and purpose will not occur except there is a travail in prayer, akin to a woman in labour for child birth.
John Wesley rightly said “God does nothing on earth save in answer to believing prayer.”
Also, S.D. Gordon said “You can do more than pray after you have prayed, but you cannot do more than pray until you have prayed.… Prayer is striking the winning blow; service is gathering up the results.”
As this is true, I should be determined to lose a little sleep for prayer. I’ll change my lifestyle for prayer. I’ll turn the T.V off or reduce the hours I spend on social media and internet games or even miss a meal, and spend hours to pray.
Our prayers will bring revival; it will bring down strongholds and barriers. God shapes our world and its events through prayer. Prayer is a spiritual force; it moves the hand of God and allows God to take responsibility over the affairs of His creation.
As labour brings what is in obscurity to limelight, so does prayer. Labour is hard work, so also is effective prayer; it will push through, and bring forth God’s agenda for humanity.
Prayer will create an atmosphere for God’s move and manifestation. If we want to change our nations, we must be ready to labour in prayer. If we want to bear God’s influence in our world, we must be ready to give ourselves to the business of prayer.
Remember, the secret of having influence with men is having influence with God, and that is in the place of prayer.
God Bless You!
