“And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and supplications.”- Zechariah 12:10
The spirit of God is the Spirit of Grace. He is the Spirit of prayer. The Holy Spirit dwelling in us imparts supernatural ability on us to operate supernaturally in every aspect of our lives. He confers upon us extraordinary capability to pray effectively and efficiently.
He also makes our prayer to receive unmerited favour from God, because any prayer inspired by the Holy Spirit will receive God’s attention, as the Lord will hearken to the voice of His Spirit. We must therefore rely on the indwelling Holy Spirit in our prayers.
“But the comforter (counsellor, helper, intercessor, advocate, strengthener, standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the father will send in my name (in my place, to represent me and act on my behalf), He will teach you all things. And he will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.” John 14:26 (Amplified)
The Holy Spirit’s duty is to stand by our side to help us, to support us and to energise us, when we are weak. He is there to counsel us: He illuminates us, He gives us prayer points; He gives us direction on prayer. He gives us a staying ability in the place of prayer, as He places a burden upon us to continue in prayer. He then lifts the burden, and gives us a release or a signal when we have prayed through!
The Holy Spirit is our intercessor on earth as Christ Jesus is now our intercessor in heaven where He is seated on the right hand of God!
“So too the (Holy) Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthy as we ought, but the spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads on our behalf with unspeakable yearning and groanings too deep for utterance.” Romans 8:26 (Amplified)
If we depend on the Holy Spirit, He will give us insight into the root causes of the issues confronting us and He will also teach us how to secure the help of God to undertake our challenges for us. The Holy Spirit will also connect us to relevant promises of God in the scripture, which will commit God to us.
The Holy Spirit also knows the divine timing; He understands what God has made ready for our provision, the things that have been freely given to us to possess. He helps us to know what we should decree and it will be established to us. He knows and gives us understanding of what we should prophesy and declare, and they will come to immediate physical manifestation.
He who speaks in tongue edifies himself (1 Corinthians 14:4); he purifies himself, he recharges himself– as in a rechargeable battery, full of power, ready to discharge the power of God.
“But you beloved, build yourself up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit”. Jude 1:20
As you pray in the Holy Spirit, you build up your most holy faith, and offer your prayers in faith. After praying in faith, you end up believing God for the impossible to become possible.
“Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”-Mark 11:23
Let us rely on the Holy Spirit. He is our helper in prayer and we will not pray amiss, and we shall have rewards for our prayers.
God bless you!
